One man gets nothing but discord out of a piano; another gets harmony. No one claims the piano is at fault. Life is about the same. The discord is there. Study to play it correctly, and it will give forth the beauty; play it falsely, and it will give forth the ugliness. Life is not at fault.

Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate; As the voyage along through life; Tis the will of the soul That decides its goal, And not the calm or the strife.

— Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Speak the truth wherever you may find it. Seek the truth wherever it is to be found. Don't confuse facts with truth. Facts may not even be facts at all. Most times, they're just opinions. Facts are relative. Truth is absolute. Instead of trying to force your facts on others, help them to find truth for themselves.

You're all brothers and sisters on a common journey towards your true potential. You have the power of God with you. You've always had it. You're as free as you will ever be. If your experience seems to be lacking in this freedom, it's only because you have been fettered in chains of your own forging. Lift up your head and look.

See with your true eyes and you'll never again be in bondage to yourself or to another. My will for you is really your own will for yourself.

I know the path: it is straight and narrow.

It is like the edge of a sword. I rejoice to walk on it. I weep when I slip. God's word is: He who strives never perishes. I have implicit faith in that promise. Though, therefore, from my weakness I fail a thousand times, I shall not lose faith.

— Mahatma Gandhi

There is no need to run outside

For better seeing . . . Rather abide

At the center of your being;

For the more you leave it, the less you learn. Search your heart and see . . .

The way to do is to be.

Few times are more exciting for a family than getting a new puppy. Every member of the family wants to hold and play with the puppy. This is a fun time for everyone, but also a time when you really have to lay the foundation for socializing and training your new puppy if you do not want problems later on. Correct training and socialization is much easier than correcting behavioral problems such as aggression later on.

The time between 2 and 12 weeks of age is a crucial period for a puppy. At this age puppies are extremely impressionable and learning at a fast clip. This is when your puppy learns to trust or fear other people, other dogs and other animals. Allow your new puppy to feel safe and secure in its new environment. This can be accomplished with a lot of holding, stroking and petting at first to establish your bond as a senior leader of the pack who will care for and protect the puppy.

Dream Time

People who are long sleepers will often have much more REM sleep than people who are short sleepers. A person who has a very short sleep time typically will have a much longer delta stage of sleep (the delta stage is the deepest part of a person's sleep time). The shorter sleeper will have a 5 minute REM dream period, a lot more delta sleep, and then another REM that lasts10 minutes, and that's usually all of the REM sleep that short sleeper will get for the entire night.

There are many crippling conditions that are plaguing us and our animals alike, as it is a fact of life. It is especially disheartening when we see our beloved animals come down with some condition, especially when it is one that cannot specifically be eradicated. Just like us humans, many animals are subject to some of the same diseases that we are, and treating them is just as important. Just like some pain may hurt for us, they are subject to the same amount, if not more.

When you are sleeping, the EEG waves that your brain produces differ significantly from those that is produces during the day when your awake. While you're awake during the day, your brain makes either very small and random waves called beta waves, or, when you relax and have your eyes closed, it makes alpha waves.

When you are sleeping, your brain makes bigger and slower waves, which are called delta and theta waves. The reason for this difference in brainwave activity is that when you are awake during the day, there are cells in your brain that fire individually. What the EEG records is the average of millions of firing nerve cells. As these nerve cells are firing, their negative and positive electrical charges will cancel each other out so the average is approximately zero. That's why these waves are very tiny and the positive to negative fluctuations are very quick. While your sleeping, more of these nerve cells begin working together and, like a collection of hands clapping to the same beat, they discharge at the exact same time, which makes the brain waves much larger and slower.

Stress, the word brings so much in the minds of all people. Stress has become as common as the flying birds in the sky. It is very difficult to find a place where there are no birds, and similarly it is very difficult to find a person who is not stressed. This article tries to find out if screensavers with natural backgrounds can fight stress.

Every thing causes stress. Every situation causes stress. Every thought causes stress. That is our life. How to fight this stress? Most of us feel less stressed when we go out in the outdoors, in the glory of nature. Watching flying birds, flowing water, lovely flowers, animals moving around in the jungles, and all such situations help us get relaxed and fight stress. Can screensavers that carry these images fight stress? They can if the pictures are life like and lovely.

Why does anything that looks natural make us relax? Because nature is relaxed. You will never find anything in a hurry in nature. That relaxation of nature makes us forget our stress. When we view beautiful scenes full of relaxed objects, we get relaxed ourselves. Screensavers that have images of nature such as flowers, mountains, streams, birds, clouds, sunsets, waterfalls, beaches, animals etc. make us feel good. If instead of static images, the visuals are in a video format, that is still better. That makes everything look more real. How should we use such screensavers?

Remember that screensavers were originally intended to protect the computer screens. With advent of technology, this is not needed now. You can download many screensavers with relaxing images and whenever you feel stressed, you can select any of them and play it. Watching it will slowly relax your frayed nerves. Some screensavers have beautiful music accompanying them. These can all soothe your nerves and help energize you for work again. Some screensavers also have text messages appearing along with the natural visuals. Reading such messages also helps us to re-motivate ourselves for the work ahead. Thus screensavers are a very effective method for self-relaxation, which you can use with your PC, without even moving out of your seat. Managers must try out the method of screensavers for relaxation in this highly stressed world.

First aid training for dogs is a vital skill for a pet owner. Dog owners are some of the most caring people in the world. Many would come close to a nervous breakdown if harm should come to their dog. Unfortunately, part of the tremendous love owners feel for their dogs involves seriously overestimating the dog's ability to understand the risks around it and avoid injury. Even more troublesome, most dog owners would have no clue what to do if their dog becomes injured.

The first step an owner should take to prepare to provide first aid for their dog is to put together a first aid kit and keep it somewhere handy. Among other items this first aid kit should include day and night contact numbers for the dog's veterinarian, directions to the veterinarian's office and the number for the local poison control center. Locating these numbers quickly in the event of an emergency could save your dog's life.

Planting a wildflower meadow garden is a project that appeals to a lot of folks simply because they look good and require very little maintenance. Also, a wide assortment of flowers, grasses and plants can be grown together without any rigid specific design. This can be a simple way to create a surprisingly beautiful garden that is also very environmentally friendly. The blooms are colorful and plentiful so they provide a much appreciated, natural habitat for birds, butterflies and many other critters.

While being an ideal garden style for some locations, a wild meadow garden may seem like clutter to some folks. So there may be some things you should consider before creating one of your own.

If planting a wildflower meadow garden appeals to you because of no maintenance, you might want to reconsider. First, there ain't no such thing as a no maintenance landscape or garden. It would be nice if it was so easy but all gardens need some maintenance. Wildflower meadow gardens only need a small amount of upkeep. However, you still have to watch out for weeds and keep the garden tidy.

Every year, people scatter handfuls of seeds on the ground in hopes of watching vast numbers of colorful flowers appear. While nature is constantly scattering seeds, many billions of seeds, you still don't see wildflower meadows sprouting in every nook and cranny. Wildflower meadows are a little more involved than “Sow and Grow”. You can purchase pre-mixed bags of wildflower seeds but they cannot just be scattered about with no thought or care involved. Like all gardens, planting a wildflower meadow garden should be planned and prepared in detail.

Begin with the Right Site. Look around your yard and find the best location for your new garden. A wildflower garden will need 6-8 hours of sunlight a day. An area with some ventilation and air movement can be a good thing. The breezes actually make the stems of the plants stronger, and plant borne diseases are less likely to occur. If you have a field or a plot of ground that has already been cultivated, you have an ideal setting for a wildflower meadow garden.

Placement is an important consideration. The informal look of a wildflower meadow garden looks too awkward when it is placed near a formal garden and may seem out of place if your other neighbors have well manicured lawns and more structured garden sites.

You want to choose the plants that are known for longer blooming periods. It is also important to select seeds and plants that are capable of dealing with the types of conditions you are subjecting them to. Try to include a wide and diverse variety of plants, just as you would see growing in a natural meadow. Combine graceful grasses with wildflowers and other grass like plants.

For lower covering of the ground, consider planting a wildflower meadow garden with plants like clover and violets. To bring color and texture that is of mid height you might want to include some bright orange or red butterfly weed, vibrant Black-eyed Susans, long blooming smooth asters and some delicate goldenrod. To add some additional height and visual appeal there are native coneflowers, wild indigo, lupine, and bee balm that you can use.

* It is best to try for a random pattern with these plants, which is the way they would appear in a natural meadow garden. You want to combine species that have different root structures; tap roots, surface roots, and deep fibrous root runners. Examples for tap roots are Butterfly Weed, Wild Indigo, and Carolina Lupine. For surface roots-Birdfoot Violets, Black-eyed Susans, and Bee Balm. And for deep Fibrous Root Runners you can use Little Bluestem, Showy Goldenrod, Smooth Aster

* Make sure that you have several plant species that can “fix” extra nitrogen into the soil. Some examples are plants that are members of the legume family. Lupines, Indigo, and clover are easy to grow selections that meet this requirement.

* You also want to have different plants that can stabilize over different periods of time. Hyssop, Sages and Black-eyed Susans will establish themselves the first year. Coneflowers, some native lilies, and Bee Balm will take at least 2 years for stabilization to occur. It usually takes a bit longer for plants such as the Compass plant, Indigo and Blazing Star to become fully acclimated. Using an air purifier for bird dander in the room where you keep your bird is an excellent way to keep both birds and humans healthy. If you won't do if for yourself, here are 5 reasons you should do it for your bird.

Small Air Passages–One of the reasons they have small air passages is because their bodies are small. But their airways are also designed differently and as such are far more efficient at supplying oxygen to their little bodies than humans.

Because these tubes are small and so vital, an accumulation of dust or air sac mites can become fatal very quickly. Filtering the air of particulates such as their own dander, and powder (from powder down birds such as African Greys, Cockatoos, and Cockatiels) will very quickly determine whether your bird is able to breathe or not.
